Grout consistency is also important when considering an elaborate tile or stone installation. When there are many pieces to the same stone, ones eye tends to travel across all the surfaces - and the consistency in minor details becomes extremely important.

Obviously when tiles or stone pieces are purchased at the same time, and come from the same batch, then there is consistency in the materials themselves. However, unprofessional installation can lead to inconsistent crout spacing - which can be a real eyesore.
